Obituary of Vernon Rumley
It is with sadness we announce the death of our father Vernon Rumley, 93 of Westville. Vernon passed away early Wednesday, morning July 27, 2022 in the Aberdeen Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in New Glasgow on April 5, 1929, he was a son of the late Fulton and Florence (Beck) Rumley.
Vernon was a carpenter by trade working in Pictou County and abroad at times. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias # 21 where last held the position as Past Chancellor. He was Past Master of Curren Lodge # 68 Hopewell and presently was with Keith Lodge # 23 Stellarton as Senior Warden.
He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Diane, Stellarton and Darlene Robinson (Art), Hardwood Hill and sons Gary, Union Centre and Kevin “Chub”, Westville; grand children Ashley and Josh Rumley (Whitney); Elizabeth Robinson-Dyck (Cody) and Aaron Robinson (Hannah), great grand children Lleyton, Danica, Brielle; John and Renee; Lucy and Jack.
Vernon was predeceased by his wife Mildred (MacDonald); son Kenneth; daughter-in-law Bernadette “Bunny” Rumley; brother Theodore “Ted” and sister Margaret “Pearl”.
Vernon is resting at Eagles Funeral Home with visiting on Saturday, July 30 from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm. The Masonic Lodge will conduct a service on Saturday at 6:30 at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2:30 Sunday, July 31 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery.
