Obituary of Freda Porter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice "Freda" Porter (nee MacNaughton), on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus.

Freda was born a coal miner's daughter to Ira and Edith (Haslam) MacNaughton in Westville, where she met her future husband, Ed.

They eventually settled in Ottawa where Freda made many friends during her working career as a receptionist. She was a loving and devoted mother who always put her family and friends before herself. She had an uncanny ability to make people laugh with her wit and humour. She will be deeply missed by many and forever in our hearts. 

She is survived by son, Brad (Brenda); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Freda was predeceased by her husband, Ed, in 2003; eldest son, Mark, in 2017, and only daughter, Donna (Eliot), in 2014; sisters Elizabeth (Dibba), Florence (Foddie) and Dorothy (Dottie) and brother Lou.

A public funeral service will be held 11 am on Monday, August 15 at Eagles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Her funeral service can be watched by click on the following link:     https://youtu.be/OP7VjgLzUhQ
