Obituary of Beatrice MacKay
Beatrice "Bea" Jessie Mackay, 77, South Main Street, Westville passed away on October 7, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Beatrice was born in New Glasgow a daughter of daughter of the late Lionel and Ena (Priest) Fitt,
Bea lived in Priestville and Stellarton, before moving to Westville as a teenager, where she met and married the love her life, Gilbert MacKay. They spent the next 56 years raising their family of four. Bea was an avid walker, enjoyed a game of cards, singing in the choir of St. Paul United Church, Westville. She enjoyed traveling with Gil across Canada and a trip to Europe. She also assisted Gil with VON Meals on Wheels. She was a retired employee of Riverview Residential Centre.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Gilbert; daughter Shelley Young, Stellarton; sons, Everett; Kevin (Chrissie); and Glen (Dawn), all of Westville; grandchildren, James, Erika, Tamara, Stephen, Stacey, Colby, Carson, Jessie; and Lacey; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Luke, Gabrielle, Georgia, Madison, and Maddox; sisters, Hilda Allen (Bill), Westville; and Jean Melanson (Ken), Springhill; and sister-in-law Betty Fitt, Geary, NB.
She was predeceased by brother Edward "Sonny" Fitt; infant sister Audrey; parents-in-law Everett and Nan MacKay.
Visitations will be held at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Sunday at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
