Marlyn's funeral will be held on Monday December 19th at 2 PM from St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville with Rev. Gail Johnson- Murdoch officiating. Masks are optional. 

Obituary of Gladys "Marlyn" Lockhart

Gladys Marlyn (Henderson) Lockhart of Prince Albert Street, Westville passed away peacefully at her home on December 15, 2022 with her family by her side.

 
Mom was so very proud of her family and enjoyed having her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around for family gatherings and following all their activities. Mom was an active member of St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville. Over the years she was involved in the Mission Band, George S. Mitchell and Barbara MacKenzie Auxiliary, Cubs / Scouts Mothers’ Auxiliary and for a time typed and printed the church bulletin. She belonged to the” All But One Card Club” for over 50 years. She truly enjoyed the social part with all the other ladies. Mom and Dad spent many years traveling to Florida. Mom enjoyed the sun and the shopping in Florida. Mom was a passionate shopper. She would walk miles and miles in the malls at home and in Florida. She even has the license plate to prove it.  During her life Mom worked at Goodman’s, Atlantic Motors and C.M. Carpenters Ltd.


Mom was a valued member of the Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge. During her membership she held numerous office positions including treasurer, Noble Grand, delegate to the Rebekah Assembly of Atlantic Provinces and most proud to be President of District Association 9 and 10A. 


Mom was so very proud to be living in Westville. Mom and Dad for years organized and directed the Westville Power Skating Program. They participated in numerous fund raising projects as part of the founders of the Westville Rink Commission. Mom participated in the Westville Heritage group, chair exercise classes, July 1st Princess Committee, member of the Red Hatters Society, member of the Dunvegan Girls Pipe Band Mothers Club and played cards at various card parties in the community. 


Mom is survived by daughters Karen (Ed) Stewart, Brenda ( Fred) LeDrew, sons Ken ( Bonnie) Lockhart, Preston Lockhart, Grandchildren Melinda ( Blaine) Murray, Ian ( Michelle) Stewart, Jacob ( Jennifer) LeDrew, Holly( Guy) Pellerine, Kenny (Amy) Lockhart, Michael( Nadine ) Lockhart, Jessica ( Jeff) McNeil, 13 Great Grandchildren, sister-in -law Phyllis Henderson, brother-in-law John ( Carole) Lockhart and 9 nieces and nephews.


She was predeceased by her husband Ken, married the love of her life for 55 years, her Mother and Father Victor and Gladys Henderson, Brother Clarence Victor Henderson, daughter-in-law Nancy Lockhart, In Laws Ken and Margaret Lockhart, Alan and Shirley Campbell.

Gail Johnson- Murdoch officiating. Masks are optional. 


The family would like to extended their thanks and appreciation to Vanessa, Rita, Alyssa, and Crystal for your care and kindness with Mom over the past year. Also thank you to the VON team for your daily home care and attention to Mom’s needs.


In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke and St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville or a charity of your choice.
