Obituary of Chris Ross

Christine Louise Ross, 77 of Pleasant Valley passed away on Wednesday, January 25 in the Halifax Infirmary.

‘Chris’ was born and raised in Lyons Brook, Pictou County, a daughter of the late Henry and Irene (MacLean) Young.

She worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Pictou, in her early years where she ran into her future husband, Elwood. They settled on the Ross Farm in Pleasant Valley, where they raised their two boys and enjoyed the simple, country life.

Later in life Chris invested time and energy to Elections Canada and enjoyed working with members of the community that became close friends. She was a faithful and active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Westville where she was an elder and member of the board of managers, as well as treasurer of the Forest Hills Cemetery. She formed lifelong friendships and bonds with members of the Church and she and her family appreciate all of their support during the good and not so good times. Chris was also a devoted member of the Brain Tumour Support Group in which she and Elwood embraced proudly.

She was very involved in her boys activities, always a cheerleader and support for any paths they chose. She became a special ‘Nana’ to her three beautiful grandchildren and they will remember her for her love and attention she gave to their adventures and interests in life. She would not let them leave the house without a treat or gift in hand.

Chris is survived by her sons Brian (Amy) Ross, Pleasant Valley; Matthew (Jessie) Ross, Elmsdale; as well as her three precious grandchildren, Margaret ‘Claire’, Dillon Elwood, and Ellie Robyn; brother Scott (Helen) Young; brother in law ‘Buster’ Cameron, nephews Stephen and Jamie Foote and David Young; nieces Linda Ferguson and Heather Young.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Elwood Ross; sister, Margaret J. Young; sister-in law Olive E. Cameron, and brother in law Alvin Foote.

The family would like to thank all of the Healthcare Teams at both the Aberdeen Hospital and QEII, along with VON in Pictou County, for the care Chris received, especially in recent months.
