Obituary of Anne van Lith
Cynthia Anne van Lith (Anne) was born July 19, 1940, in Montreal, Quebec and passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on April 14, 2023, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
To say that Anne was a unique person would be a vast understatement. After successfully battling breast cancer, she returned to school after the age of 50 to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University. Her sense of creativity knew no boundaries and she faced the world in such a different manner, displaying a level of confidence that she herself did not recognize.
Anne’s uniqueness was overshadowed only by her heart as she loved those around her openly and completely. She was the glue for her family while always charming everyone she met with her wacky sense of humour bringing smiles and joy to even the most difficult situations.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Willem van Lith, Anne leaves behind her two daughters Sue (Tavi Costin) and Di (Drew Hutchinson) as well as her grand-daughters, Willow and Skye, for whom she had an active hand in raising. She also leaves behind her equally distinctive two younger siblings, Nancy Bobaljik (John) and Gordon Hankin (Dale).
At Anne’s request, no service will be held to mark her passing although she did repeatedly promise to haunt all those she left behind.
