Obituary of Steve Holliday

Stephen Wilson Holliday, 95, of Alma passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alfred and Jessie (Fraser) Holliday. Steve was an auto mechanic and machinist operating MacDonald and Holliday Service Station with his partner Alex MacDonald. He was known for his excellent memory and interest in local history. Steve was a founding member of Alma Fire Department, retiring as Deputy Chief. He was an adherent of Green Hill- Alma United Church. He was also a member of the Norton Lodge I.O.O.F. He is survived by his wife Marjorie ( MacLellan ) ; daughter, Shirley MacLeod (Jim), Alma; a son Lindsay, Pictou; grandchildren Drew MacLeod, Calgary; Lesley Dickson (Keith), Saint John, NB; Mark Holliday (Alison), New Glasgow; Ryan Holliday, Edmonton; and sister in law Beatrice Letcher, Truro   He was predeceased by an infant daughter; daughter in-law Laurel; sister Nancy Wilson; and brother Robert Murray. Visitations will be held from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Friday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Saturday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Meredith Fraser officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester. Donations in his memory may be made to Green Hill- Alma United Church, the Alma Fire Department, or a charity of one’s choice.
