Obituary of Rhoda MacKenzie

It is with sadness we announce the death of our mother, Rhoda Melissa MacKenzie on Thursday, July 27,2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow

Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Jessie (nee Marshall) Stevens of Lovat. 

Rhoda  will be dearly missed by her daughter Karen Gear (James), Westville;  sons, Robert, Stellarton and Peter, Peace River, Alta; grandchildren, Lynn Blackwood (Marc), Marjorie Cooney (Corey), Steve Gillingham ((Ashley), Jayden Blakeney, and Penny MacKenzie; great-grandchildren, Amy, Rylie, Lauren, Linq, Jade and Jax and also by extended adopted family Shawna MacLellan (Joey) and their three girls Holly, Lauren and Reagan.  

She is also survived by her sister Audrey Wright (Calvin); brothers Myles Stevens (Jean), Edward Stevens (Lenora), Bill Stevens, sisters-in law Angeline Stevens, Ann Stevens Dooley;  Glenda Scott (Paul) and brother-in-law  Bud Cameron.

Rhoda  was predeceased by her husband Farrell, sister Ina Cameron; brothers Medford and Lawson Stevens;  sisters-in-law Wilena Stevens and Jean Prest (Clark) and brother-in-law Jack (Helen) MacKenzie.                 

Rhoda is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Monday July 31 from 6-8 p.m.  Her funeral service will be held 1 o’clock Tuesday August 1 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Burial will be in Stillman Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Canadian Diabetic Association.
