Obituary of Dorothy Kendall

Dorothy Kendall, 84, Loch Broom, Pictou County passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Kendall) and George Hillier. She worked at Dooley’s Funeral Home, in North Sydney for a short time in the 1940's, and later worked at Simpson’s Sears in Halifax and also at Cara at the Halifax Airport. She was a member of the Senior’s Club in Pictou, the Women’s Institute and Friends Bowling League. She loved gardening and spent hours in her vegetable and flower gardens, winning hundreds of prizes over the years at the Pictou, North Colchester Exhibition. She was very interested in genealogy and passed on information about her family history. She is survived by sons, David Brian (Linda), Kingston, NS; Blaine Gregory, Little Harbour; Bruce Daniel (Mary), Ont.; and Floyd Joseph (Joan), Durham; grandchildren, Tammy, Gregory, Darlene, Denise, Nathan, and Rebecca; and great-grandchildren, Toscha, Sharnelle, Darnel, Summer, Amber, Gregory, Zachary, Ashton, Nathan, Cloe, Rosa, Jessica, and Michelle; sisters, Ruth Cameron (Dick), New Glasgow, and Mildred Lindsay, Ont. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Kendall; sisters Marjorie Nelson, Maryon Ross, two sisters in infancy; brothers George and Harold, and step-mother Nellie. Visitations will be held at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Sunday from the West River Presbyterian Church, Durham with the Rev. Susan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be to the West River Presbyterian Church or the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
