I met Dorothy when I started working as a casual nurse at the Aberdeen. She was a standout from the start - always cheerful, patient, super smart in an understated kind of way, unfailingly kind, generous with her time showing me the ropes. We stayed in touch after we both retired and had a wonderful visit at our farm, always intending to have more, trying to work our way around schedules with family, kids, grandkids, comings and goings.
I was so sorry to learn of Dorothy's passing. Although we didn't spend much time together, I thought of her often and will miss her. What a bright light she was!
My sincerest condolences to her family. She spoke of you often and was so proud of all of you.
Warmly,
Anne Simmonds

I am privileged to say that Dorothy was my St Martha’s classmate of 50 years as well as a dear friend. She stayed closely connected to our class, baking her biscuits and other delights for our recent annual gatherings. I will miss her warm smile, her gentle touch and her sweet giggle. Rest peacefully my friend. I love you dearly ❤️❤️

Cameron family,
We were saddened to hear of Dorothy’s passing, sending our heartfelt condolences across the miles.. We first met Dorothy through her son Bobbie, many years ago when myself, my husband and our 2 young children were passing through NS and stopped to visit family with the intent of doing an overnighter in her backyard in our tent but instead we crashed her house. All 4 of us spending the night in Dorothy’s house with her husband Bob and also treated to some great music on the back patio! . The next morning I was surprised to find her making breakfast for my children like they were her own,
Dorothy also stepped in when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, she was there while I was in hospital in Halifax, checking on me daily, bringing me food and treats. She was there so much that I actually thought she had already retired! But seems she was coming to see me after working or her days off…. since then she had been a wonderful listener for me, exchanging Christmas cards and inquiring about my family. She did so much more for us as well, it will never be forgotten how much she meant to us although we lived in Nl.
Take care
Carla, Lorne, Joshua and a Olivia Legge.

I never met Dorothy, reading her obituary it looks like that was my loss. However I do know she would have been a fantastic mother, she raised an incredible young man in Bobby and that is a direct result of the kind of person she was. So sorry for your loss Bobby. I’ll keep you in my prayers tonight.

The sweetest maternity nurse there ever was. She gave me the best back rub in Aug of 1996 a few hrs before my son was born. She didn't have to, as it was 1am and she came in to do it. Thanks to my Aunt for calling her. Little did I know, that 27 yrs later I would return the favor as I took care of you. You will be missed Dorothy, may you rest in eternal peace. ❤️❤️

Dorthy was such a sweet lady. I only remember her as being happy, caring and generous from my visits to her house to hang out with Bobby, to her picking me hitch hiking, to her being a big part of the delivery of my first child. People like her made the world a better place. R.i.p Dorthy, you'll be missed by so many.

I have many fond memories of Dorothy both from work and socially. We remained active friends for many years and supported each other especially through the younger child raising years when we both had our three children. Dorothy being pregnant 3 months before me for each one! We had lots of fun over that scenario! Many a fun social meals we shared in our homes followed by a musical evening with guitars. Dorothy even came to BC to visit us at least on two occasions as well as she visited me at my sisters in PEI! A very special visit was when I met up with Dorothy in Calgary when Susie and Heather were living there then we did a road trip to Jasper and Banff. Our families had a good time together and made great memories. This is only touching the surface.
Condolences to Bob, Bobbie, Susie ,& Heather.
