Obituary of Hugh McInnis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father Hugh Allen McInnis, 78, on November 10, 2023.

Hughie was the youngest child born to John and Mary (Morrison) McInnis of Stellarton on July 12, 1945.

He spent his younger years employed in the local coal mines and later at the Trenton car works. But he most often loved to tell his grandchildren about his first job at the bowling alley when you stood the pins by hand and made 5 cents an hour.  Hughie found great enjoyment in attending Legion dances and listening to good music. He was also an avid hobby train collector and enjoyed attending train shows and sharing his love of the hobby.  But his greatest joy were his grandchildren Cole, Jessica, Hunter, Marley, Spencer, Sullivan and Monroe.  His love for them was immense.

Besides his beloved grandchildren Hughie is survived by his children Joey (Kelly) McInnis, Millbrook;  Allen McInnis, Westville and Tanya (Colin) Keeping, Upper Tantallon.  He is also survived by his devoted companion Amy Gosbee and her family.  As well as sisters Phyllis Robson, Freda Johnson, brother in-law John Harrington, sister in-law Angela Ross and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Sharon (Ross) and son Shawn Russell in infancy, his parents, father and mother in-law Keith and Margaret (Burgess) Ross, sisters Betty Martell, Mary Rankin, Shirley Baker, brothers Angus and John James McInnis and many dear family members.

The family will receive visitors Thursday Nov. 16th from 6:30-9pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The funeral will be held at 11am Friday Nov. 17th  at Eagles Funeral Home with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.  Interment to follow at Millbrook Cemetery.  A reception will be held at the Union Center Community Hall following the Cemetery.

Hughie will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
