Obituary of Ron Newman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Paul Newman at his home in Westville on November 18, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Halifax on February 22,1952, Ron was the son of the late William (Bill) and Rita (Hendsbee) Newman. 

Ron was known for his witty sense of humor, and he brought endless smiles and laughter to our lives, He loved to go fishing and go to yard sales and playing guitar any chance he could with his family and friends.

Ron will be sadly missed by his loving companion Diane Hartling and her children Wanda (Rob), John and Carol (Timothy) of Westville, his brother Ken (Dawn) in Windsor, sisters Brenda (Sal) in Dartmouth and Karen in Montreal, many nieces and nephews and his two childhood best friends Brian Parker of Fall River and John MacDonald of Halifax.

Ron was predeceased by his parents William (Bill) and Rita Newman, his brothers Billy and Stephen, sister Linda and his former partner Joyce Coley.

Thank you to the staff of the VON and thank you to the palliative care unit at the Aberdeen Hospital especially Rachael MacDonald and Dr Kawasaki and to his Nurse Practitioner Kara Stewart.

Donations can be made in his honor to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at Ron’s request There will be a private graveside  service at a later date.
