Obituary of Earl MacLeod

William “Earl” MacLeod, age 80 of Mt. William, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital (Palliative Care) with his family by his side.

Born July 22, 1943 in Sydney he was the son of the late Donald and Ida (MacKenzie) MacLeod.

Earl will be dearly missed by his children and grandchildren, Roger (Sandi) MacLeod, Stellarton;  Robyn (Dave) Schebek, Lake Louise, AB; grandchildren, Elizabeth “Lizzie” MacLeod, Kai Schebek; nieces and nephews, Wanda, Shelley, Paul, Gwen, and Lori; and great nieces and nephews.

Earl was predeceased by his sisters, Helen MacLeod; twin sister Jean MacLean; grandson Brandon MacLeod; and partner of 20 years Wanda Halverson.

Earl worked at Northern Pulp for over 25 years, he was an active member of AA for 41 years, receiving his 40 year chip in September 2022.  He was a jack of all trades, there honestly wasn’t anything he could not do mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, foundation laying and the list goes on.  He was a lover of most things, especially what nature had to offer, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, chopping, piling wood, cutting grass, and hanging out at the cottage, are a few things to list.  Most of all he loved spending times with his family, friends, and cottage friends.   He always had an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and advice and opinions to give and was always willing to offer a helping hand.  His hands were his gift to this world.

A huge thank you to the amazing Palliative Care team of the Aberdeen Hospital at this difficult time, you are the angels that your patients need and many thanks to the V.O.N. for all of their work.

Public visitations will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 Thursday, December 7th at Eagles Funeral Home .  His funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, December 8th at Eagles Funeral Chapel with Rev.
