Obituary of Carolyn (Martell) Riggs

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our mother and sister, Carolyn Edwina (Martell) Riggs. Carolyn passed away on Wednesday December 6, 2023 in the Aberdeen Hospital with her family by her side.

Born in New Glasgow on November 7, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Winnifred (Faulkner) Martell, Westville.

Carolyn had worked as a bookkeeper for I. Matheson & Company and Campbell’s Auto Service for many years until her retirement due to ill health. In her early life, Carolyn enjoyed camping, flower gardening and caring for her many cats. Carolyn took on an interest of looking after pigeons, feeding and sheltering them which could easily be seen around her property. 

Carolyn will be dearly missed by her sons, Mark Riggs (Anna Dezsi), Westville and Tim Riggs, Finland, grand children Väinö, Ahti and Mielikki, Finland; sisters Leona Munsie, Pictou; Virginia Enfield (Terry) Lower Sackville; Jocelyn Coffin (Howard), Stellarton; Charlene Smith (Mervin), Westville and brothers Earle Martell, Lansdowne and Edwin “Eddie” Martell, Westville and many nieces and nephews. 

Her family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 9 from 2-4 pm at Eagles Funeral Home. There will be no funeral service held.
