Obituary of Hilary White

Hilary E.B.(Dewey) White age 75, formally of Water St Westville, passed away peacefully with his sister Cindy by his side on April 8,2024.

Born October 15,1948 in New Glasgow, NS. Hilary was the son of the late David and Jean (Campbell) White.

Hilary was a welder by trade and was employed with “the car works” most of his life until he retired.

Uncle Dewey was an avid dart player and enjoyed poker nights with his siblings and in laws. He was known to frequent the flea mart and didn’t miss a yard sale if he could help it!

The last few years, Uncle Dewey enjoyed his time playing crib with his great nephew Jaykus.

Uncle Dewey has left us with so many memories, many were some of the best times of our childhood.  You can hear his nieces and nephews telling numerous stories, from pitching tent on the plants to changing the price of something once we were interested. But two that is never missed, is being allowed only one square of toilet paper, two at most and tugging on our cold lugs.

He is survived by a daughter Stephanie White Pender(Matthew) a son Christopher White and two grandsons Joshua and Cameron, all from Ontario.

Sisters Marcia Gerrior (Jimmy), Cindy Rushton (Gerald) and LaVerne White (John) and numerous nieces, nephews and their families; a special mention to his God-daughter Michaela White

Besides his parents, Dewey was predeceased by his brother Robert White, his sister in law Bernice White (Dennison) and brother in law Frank Kuhn.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation as per his wishes and interment will take place at the Holy Name cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff of Glen Haven’s 2nd floor centre,  for their kindness, compassion  and generosity to us and to Hilary during his palliative time.
