Obituary of Jeannie Poirier
The death of Jeannie Poirier occurred on April 2,2024 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow N.S, comforted by one of Jeannies dedicated caregivers from Riverview Home Corporation
Jeannie was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Westville N.S
Jeannie was born in Montreal, Canada to the late Norman and Florene (Madore) Poirier on January 2,1942. Jeannie was a resident of Riverview Home Corporation for 64 years having lived in various locations, most recently Evergreen Ridge Group Home.
A dedicated friend to many Jeannie enjoyed socializing, dancing, creating crafts and special occasions.
Jeannie was supportive of her peers and encouraged everyone to participate and have fun.
Jeannie strived to live each day to the fullest and this was evident in her daily living.
Jeannies favorite time of year was Christmas where she would participate in selecting the house decorations and decorating her room.
Jeannie was always participatory in holiday events by wearing her fashionable headbands which were reflective of her choices in style.
Jeannie was a fashion diva who loved to wear her leggings and matching long tops she knew exactly what styles and colors best suited her.
Jeannie recognized the importance of self-care and communicated her wishes to the staff each day.
Jeannie had a wonderful relationship with her late cousin Vicki MacLeod. They enjoyed socializing with a cup of tea as well as singing Jeannie’s favorite songs.
Jeannie is survived by longtime friend Kaye Hoare (Stellarton) , her close friends at Riverview Home as well as the staff at Riverview Home who supported her daily living and interests
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
