Obituary of Charles Arthur Pearce

Charles Arthur Pearce 76 years of age, from Sylvester NS, peacefully passed away in his sleep upon completion of a terrific vacation in Whitehorse, Yukon NWT, beside the love of his life Diane MacNeil, while visiting with his extended family Joe, Lawrence, Donald and Florance.

Charlie's parents Sidney and Hazel, brought him and his brother David (Linda) up on a farm in Elmfield, where he started his schooling in a one room school house at the end of their driveway.  Eventually moving on to West Pictou High before graduating from Vocational School as a bus mechanic.  He worked at the bus barns in Stellarton before being hired on at the Trenton Generating Station and getting an apprenticeship for Stationary Engineering, now Power Engineering, with a group of friends that lasted a lifetime.  Excelling at his trade, he worked his way up to a first class power engineer ticket and chief of operations superintendant at the same plant.  Spending over 30 years and overseeing the build of the new #6 portion of the plant, NS Power was privatized, kicking him and most of his work family to the curb.

Bouncing back, he went to Tynes Bay Power Plant in Bermuda, running and training staff there for over three years before returning home and finally retiring at J.D. Irving Sproule Lumber as Chief of the Kilns.

Charlie's son Jason (Belle), grandsons Tyler, Ryan and great-grandchildren Piper and Hunter were so amazed and shocked at all this man could do and achieve.  He built his own home from scratch, fixed snow mobiles, vehicles, bikes, RV's, he also owned and operated a well driller, build and flew his own plane, built and drove his '39 Chev Coup, managed hockey teams, was a boxing referee, was a financial whiz, operated a stump grinder, enjoyed boating and touring on the Segway.

No challenge was too big or small for him to excel.

Meeting some of his birth family members, the Douglas and MacDonald's brought great joy to him and he really embraced the relationships that were started.

Life will never be the same for those he met, helped and especially loved.

There will be no visitaion or funeral service held at this time. Service details will be announced at a later date.
