My mom, Nellie was an amazing person all her life.
She raised 6 children, 5 while she was working full-time. She spent many years working for American Hospital Supply which became Baxter, They were sad to see her go.
Later when she should be retiring, she got her PSW and worked in a nursing home in Keswick. She made friend with many of the residents.
Eventually she moved back to Nova Scotia, to be with family and friends. She got involved in programs for seniors, becoming President of a Seniors Club working with local and provincial politicians to ensure seniors were heard. She worked with AL-ANON helping young people dealing with alcohol or drug issues.
My mom and dad would go camping in their Starcraft trailer and many times they took my children (Adam, Derek and Whitney) to sites in the US and Canada. They still have fond memories of those days.
I was fortunate to see my mom in May this year and enjoyed spending a week with her. We may not have always gotten along but we made our peace.
I will miss her and so will my children.
