Obituary of Helen Langille
Helen Katherine Langille, 84, of Westville, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with ALS.
Helen was the daughter of the late John "Don" and Janet "Jean" (Frosst) Stewart.
Helen played a pivotal role in her family's journey to reclaiming their native status, honoring the legacies of her mother and grandmother in the Eastern Woodland Métis Nation N.S.
She pursued many passions throughout her life including, dancing in the kitchen with Jackie, art collecting, floral arrangement, interior decorating, and business consulting. She loved her children’s pursuits in art, their entrepreneurship skills, and was her family’s biggest fan.

Helen is survived by her daughters Joanne (Art) Fitt, Donna Langille (Robert Swan), Susan (Dale) MacInnis, Zella Langille, Rhoda MacDonald (James Boutilier), Kathy Spears; sons Marty Langille, Randy (Carolyn) Langille, Michael Langille; daughter-in-law Marlene Johnstone ;
Sisters Evelyn (Don) Shymko, Zella Ferguson, Donna Gaudaur; brothers Gary Stewart, Robert Stewart, Sandy Stewart (Faye Royal), Allan Stewart (Susan Allen), Ricky (Gordina) Stewart, and Joey (Rose) Stewart.
Helen leaves a profound legacy of faith and positivity in her 27 grandchildren, Jay, Katie, Kevin, Carrie Jean, Timothy, Mark, Leslie, Danielle, Casey, Graham, Elizabeth, Kyle, Presley, Evan, Jonathan, Renee, Kass, Roland, Jaclyn, Lyle, Crystal, Matthew, Erica, Joshua, Kingston, Anderson, and Nash, and 37 great-grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her devoted husband, John F. Langille; her parents Jean and Don Stewart; brothers Joe Stewart, Terry Stewart; twin brother Bill Stewart; stepson Jerry Johnstone; and grandson Stephen Glenncross; sister-in-law’s Reene Stewart and Catherine Stewart ; brother-in-law’s James Ferguson, and Billy Gaudaur.
Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the ALS Society.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Helen’s caregivers Hazel, Joy, and Eddie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 29th, at 2pm at Eagles Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating.
