Hugh Gordon Neil MacLaren, 93 years of Hazel Glen, passed away on July 12, 2024. Born in British Columbia, he was the youngest of the late Thomas and Mysie (MacMillan) MacLaren.

Gordon had a long and prestigious career in the Canadian Air Force from 1953 until retirement in 1983. He was an air traffic controller and served at various bases throughout Canada and Germany, retiring as a Master Warrant Officer in 1983. After retirement, Gordon worked as a commissionaire and as a dispatcher with the New Glasgow Police Department until 1987.

Throughout his life, Gord enjoyed a love of country music, singing, playing guitar, crossword puzzles and cars. He had a great compassion for animals, especially his beloved dog, Blackie.

Gordon was predeceased by sisters Helen (Henry Marshall), Ruth (Richard MacEwan), Margaret (Donald Chittick), brother Allister, nephews James Marshall and George Goodrick. Gord is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion over the last four years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. There will be no service or visitation as per Gord’s request. Interment will be in Auburn Cemetery.

Thank you for your service, Uncle Gord.

May you rest in peace.
