Obituary of Marilyn Rose Osmond

Marilyn Rose Osmond (Chennell) age 82 passed away Sunday July 14th surrounded by family at the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.

She was born in New Glasgow, N.S. to John and Rose (Vigneault) Chennell and was the oldest of five children. Marilyn grew up in Westville and went on to receive her teaching degree at N.S. Teacher’s College. She taught until 1963 when she had her first of five children. The majority of her years were spent raising her family in Dartmouth and enjoying summers at the cottage on Sinclair’s Island. Later in life, she returned to work as a substitute teacher, caregiver and also worked at Carlton Cards and McCunn’s Tax Services. She spent the last number of years back in her hometown of Westville and her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her five children, Cindy, Tatamagouche; Jak, Vancouver; April, Calgary; Scott (April), Porter’s Lake; and Kean, Dartmouth. As well as her eight grandchildren, Chelsie, Robyn, Brittany, Jennifer, Kean, Paula, Marshall and Nicole; six great grandchildren, Audrey, Kean, Maddison, Ben, Mac and Nova; her four siblings, Barbara Chennell (Pierre), Joyce Fraser (Danny), Walter Chennell (Debbie) and Tommy Chennell (Wendy) and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Rose Chennell.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.

Visitation will be held at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, at 1:00pm on Thursday July 18th immediately followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm.
