Obituary of E. Forbes MacDonald
E. Forbes MacDonald
E. Forbes MacDonald of Alma passed away peacefully at home, July 23, 2024. Forbes was the son of the late Charles Edward MacDonald and Mabel MacDonald (Rundle).
Forbes worked as a skilled refrigeration and ammonia technician for E&R, Moncton, NB, for 24 years. He and Evie raised their family in Lakeburn, NB. In 2002 he moved back to Alma in the home his parents built. Forbes had many hobbies, but he especially enjoyed going to Woodhurst, NB. He was also quite fond of gardening, ATVing, birdwatching, being a UCT member, volunteering at the New Glasgow Foodbank and spending the odd day at the lake with Bob. Forbes enjoyed days spent on his wood lot and spending time with his grandchildren.
Forbes is survived by his children Anne MacDonald, Janet (Bill) Reynolds, Forbes Jr. (Aisha) MacDonald, Hazel (Bill) Crowley; grandchildren Jamie, Jessica, Joey (Jannie), Jonathan (Samantha), Jenna (Johnny), Calem (Celina) and Logan; one great-grandchild Amelia. Also, will be sadly missed by Brothers and Sisters-in-Law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his wife, Evelyn “Evie” Geddes; parents Charles and Mabel MacDonald and infant brother, Harry Edward MacDonald.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. McDougall, Nurse Bonnie, Dr. Ravi Ramjeesingh, Dr Craig, Dr Smith and staff at the Oncology Unit Aberdeen Hospital, also the Palliative Care Clinic and VON. As well as special thanks to Forbes' neighbor and friend Alexander Johnston.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30am on Friday, July 26, 2024 in the Eagles Funeral Home Westville. Funeral service will be held at 11:30am at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, with Rev. Mary Taylor Officiating. Burial to follow in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Alma.
Donations in memory of Forbes may be made to the New Glasgow Foodbank, the Oncology Unit Aberdeen Hospital, Alma Greenhill United Church, or a charity of choice.
