Obituary of Hendrika Veenhuis

Hendrika Veenhuis, age 101 of Union Centre, Pictou County, passed away peacefully, to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in Valley View Villa, Riverton Born in Warnsveld, the Netherlands on February, 28, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Hendirkus and Gerritdina Begieneman. Hendrika immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her family. She was the wife of the late Martinus Veenhuis. Mrs. Veenhuis is survived by her children, Gerry (John van Zeumeren), Ottawa; John (Anne), Upper Stewiacke; Hank (Maria), Union Centre; Annebeth (John Dykstra), Saltsprings; Martin (Patricia), Union Centre; 26 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Martinus; a son Willem, 5 siblings in the Netherlands; granddaughters, Krista Veenhuis Stewart, Denise Weatherby Veenhuis, and Sarah Stewart Dykstra. Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 28, from 1-1:45 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1948 Temperance Street, Westville, from where her funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday with Rev. Ryan King officiating. Burial will be in Gray Road Cemetery, Union Centre. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to Bethel Baptist Church or to Valley View Villa. Services are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
