Obituary of Charles Munsie
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Charles (Charlie / Bear) Martin Munsie, 63, on August 26, 2024 at home.
Charlie was born in New Glasgow, NS on June 27, 1961 to Melvin and Elizabeth (Maloney) Munsie.
He graduated from Trenton High School in 1980. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Biology at Saint Mary’s University.
Charlie worked for the Nova Scotia Fisheries Department as well as at Sobeys Corp in New Glasgow, before moving to Guelph, Ontario. He then worked for the Co-operators General Insurance Co. in Guelph. He quickly advanced to this position of Coach/Trainer in the Direct Mail Unit Department at the head office. This was his favourite job. He worked with fantastic people there and throughout Canada.
Charlie became a respected and much-liked co-worker. He was known for his kindness, patience, humour and knowledge. He returned their respect and affection.
Charlie is an amazing, incredible, creative person. He was a painter, song writer, and poet. Music was of major importance in his life, equal to his enthusiasm for the Maple Leafs hockey team. Reading, walking, country drives, car trips and adventures were other interests.
But the most important thing in his life was the people. Family and friends. He treasured his family. His special buddy was his grandson Isaac. He was an extremely loving and involved Husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He had a special group of friends who he knew his entire life - The Guys.
Charlie was a kind, intelligent, patient, gentle, laidback, calm, peaceful, protective, generous, loving person. He was best known for his incredible mind and scope of knowledge on many subjects, his humour and his kindness to others.
He has left an unfillable void in the lives of so many people.
Charlie leaves behind his wife Gina (Robertson); daughters Sarah (Yassi) and Melissa (Jacob) and grandson Isaac; parents Melvin and Elizabeth Munsie; brothers Jack (Michelle), Steven (Sylvie), and Gary (Bernedette); nieces Ashley Dickson (Mike), Brittany Sawyer (Jake), Michaelea Vladovic, Rebecca Munsie (Herson), Caroline Germain, and Natasha Munsie; nephews Noah Munsie, Nicolas Germain, Brandon Vladovic, Jordan Dickson (Alisha); cousins Bill, Rob, Denise Chadwick and Sandy (Mary) Lays. Charlie also leaves behind his Ontario family; The McLeods - Dwayne (Nancy), Debbie (Richard), Phil (Erin), and Justin (Haleigh) and numerous neices and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by cousin Kevin Chadwick, Don, Sharon McLeod and Micheal Kearns.
At the family’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on September 12th, 2024, at 11am at Eagles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
