Obituary of Anna Mary Holmes

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Anna Mary Holmes age 81, of Munroe Ave. Extension passed away on November 20, 2024 in the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Sydney she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Jean Rose (Oursin) Peters.

Anna grew up in Sydney River, NS and married Donald Holmes in 1965. They had moved to Amherst and later returned to reside In Pictou County.

Anna love to bake and cook, especially for her family, her favorite was making special desserts, she enjoyed playing bingo and spent a lot of time reading and socializing on her tablet. For many years she played in a card club with a group of great friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her husband Donald, Munroe Ave. Extension; daughters Donna (Greg) Brown, Munroe Ave. Extension; Cheri (Billy) Gray, Westville; granddaughters Morgan (Stephen) Brown, Dartmouth; Sydney Brown, New Glasgow; great-granddaughter Ellie Brown, Dartmouth; grand-dog Josie; brother Bob (Carol) Peters, Sydney River; sister Rose Singer, Ocoee, Florida; brother-in-law Gerald (Marg) Holmes, Munroe Ave. Extension; sisters-in-law Diane Holmes, Mirimichi, NB; Mae Peters Billerica, Mass.; nephews Allan, Brian, Frederick, Robert, Michael, David, Doug, Greg Kevin and Keith; nieces Debbie and Pattie.

Anna was predeceased by brother Francis “Bucky” sister Laura Ongo; nephew Mark Lowther, sister-in-law Marie Lowther, brother-in-law Doug Lowther, brother-in-law William Holmes and sister-in-law Mary Holmes.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Saturday, November 23 in Eagles Funeral Home Westville, NS from where funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 24 with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
