A Masonic service will be held in Sharon St. John United Church beginning at 1:45 pm on Thursday, December 19.

Obituary of Reginald Stewart Darroch

Reginald Stewart Darroch, age 100, passed away suddenly on December 10, 2024 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born July 5, 1924 in Westville. Survived by May his wife of 55 years, son John (Jack), daughter-in-law Tena of Ontario, daughters Alice (MacLeod-Newbery) and Linda MacLeod,  both of Halifax and grandchildren Jean Darroch, Michelle Darroch, Scott Newbery and Nicholas Newbery,

Survived by brother Bill Stewart, sister Muriel Kennedy (Bob MacLean) brother-in-law Jim Fraser (Barbara Cotton), sister-in-law Colleen Stewart.

Preceded in death by grandparents Hannah and William Darroch, mother Janet (Darroch) Stewart, sister Jean Stewart Fraser, brother Don Stewart, sister Shirley (Stewart) Kerr, brother Herbert Stewart and by his first wife Jean.

Reg was a longtime resident of Stellarton where he was a faithful member of Sharon St. John United Church.  He served as an Elder,  Board of Stewards, sang in the choir, Superintendent of Sunday School and was very involved in numerous church activities.

He was a Past Master of Western Star #50, Masonic Lodge.  He was a member of the Philae Temple Shriners, Pictou County Club, Royal Arch and the Knights Templar.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm  - 1: 45 pm and Funeral Service 2:00 pm including the Masonic service will be held  Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton. with Rev. Jun Hyok-Chon presiding. Reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Donations in Reg’s memory can be made to the church, War Amps Canada or Shriners Hospital
