Obituary of Muriel Partington
The death of Florence Muriel Partington, age 101, of Drummond Road, Westville, occurred after a long and full life, on January 5, 2011 at Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, NS.
She was born in Westville, on May 30, 1909, the daughter of the late Hiriam E. and Lena (Clark) Langille; wife of the late William Hilton "Bill" Partington, and loving mother of Janet (Arthur) Storey, Barrie, Ontario, and Ken (Kathy) Partington, Stellarton.
Muriel took great joy in the lives of her grandchildren, Heather (Greg) Doran, Charlottetown; Margo (Rob) Brown, Winnipeg; Cynthia (Mike) Mahoney, Ohio, USA; Mark (Laurie) Partington, Pincourt, Quebec; and Marsha (Brian) Fanning, Head of St. Margarets Bay, NS; great-grandchildren, Christina and Rose Brown, Kathryn and Jackson Mahoney, Amy and Clare Partington, and Colin Fanning.
An accomplished musician, Muriel spent forty years as a piano teacher and twenty-five years as organist at First Presbyterian Church in Stellarton. She was a devoted member of St. Paul United Church, Westville and a Life Member of the U.C.W. In her younger years she was involved with Mission Band, C.G.I.T. and Junior Congregation. She was also involved through the Canadian Red Cross Society, Local Council of Women, V.O.N. Board, member of Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge since the age of 19, and a recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family also wishes to thank Ruth Sutherland, Adelene and Royce McGillivary, Joyce and Leonard Marcipont, Bev Chennell, Paddy Duggan and David Cormier for their support over the years.
There will be no visitation by request of the deceased. As Muriel wished, her remains have been donated to Dalhousie Medical School. Burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date. There will be a public Celebration of Life Service on May 28, 2011 at 2 o’clock at St. Paul United Church, Westville with Rev.
