Obituary of Thomas Edwin Fraser

It’s with heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Edwin Fraser Jr. of Watervale. At the age of 55, Tommy passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Aberdeen Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Tommy was born on June 7, 1969, at the Aberdeen Hospital to Edwin and Faye Fraser of Millbrook.

Tommy was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and grampie. He was always thinking and helping others in any way he could. Tommy worked at various jobs before settling on becoming a carpenter, something he enjoyed thoroughly. He decided after 20 years to go back to school with his daughter Carrie, to become a Continuing Care Assistant, a job that he really loved.

In 2010, his youngest child took up barrel racing with the Maritime Barrel Racing Association in which he was a huge supporter of both her and the club. He became very involved with the MBRA, setting up barrels, working the gate, treasurer of the club and many other jobs.

Tom enjoyed his mornings at the barn, drinking his coffee and chatting with his prize horses, Chico and Granger. He loved camping with his family and spent many weeks and weekends at Caribou Park. He always had a smile on his face and could make anyone laugh with his corny jokes and silly ways.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 35 years Jeannie (MacDonald) Fraser of Watervale and children Kyle (Danielle) Fraser of Watervale, Carrie Fraser of Watervale, and Rebecca (Isaiah) Schriver of Salt Springs. He is survived by parents Edwin and Faye Fraser, his brother Stephen Fraser, sister Melissa (Mike) Marshall, mother in-law Thelma MacDonald, sister in-law Sarah MacDonald, brother in-law Jamie (Kelley) MacDonald and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He will be missed deeply by his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Noah and Wyatt, his princess Amaya, and newest grandson Ethan.

He is predeceased by his grandparents Clarence and Edna Fraser, Clarence and Peg Rundle, aunt Roberta Jackson, Uncles Buck Jackson, Freddy Fraser, and Bill Rundle, cousin Cory Fraser, father in-law Bert MacDonald and nephew James Haines.

We would like to thank the nurses on the cancer wing and palliative team for their wonderful care throughout his battle. We would also like to thank his cancer buddy Shawna-Rae Johnson for keeping his spirits up throughout his battle.

Visitation will be held at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville on Saturday, February 1st from 6-8pm and Sunday February 2nd from 12-2pm with funeral following at 2pm. Reception following funeral will be held at the West River Firehall.

Donations in memory of Tommy can be made to the Maritime Barrel Racing Association.
