Obituary of Robert Muir
Robert Bruce Muir, age 64, of Wabush, Newfoundland, formerly of Scotsburn, Pictou Co., passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Health Science Center in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Gordon and Marion “Meme” (Greig) Muir.
Robert grew up in Scotsburn and moved from Pictou Co. to Wabush, NL in 1975 where he worked at Scully Mines for the 30 years until retiring in October 2008. He was a member of the Wabush Fire Department. He enjoyed skiing and ski patrolling, fishing, golfing, and especially his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Joanne; son Rob (Anna), Halifax; daughter Angela Coombs (Rick), Torbay, NFLD; grandson Sampson; step children, Angela Moulton (Sheldon) step granddaughter Alyssa; Lesley Sullivan (Donald) step grandchildren Vanessa and Ethan; Trevor Todd (Rosemary); step-sons Anthony and Colon. Robert is also survived by his brother Gary, Westville; niece Lee Buckley ; and nephew Greig, Westville. Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His memorial service will be held 4 o’clock Wednesday at the Scotsburn United Church. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Scotsburn. A reception will follow in the church hall.
