Obituary of Dolly Black

Wilna "Dolly" Black, 87, of Brookland, Pictou Co., passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 in the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou with her family at her side. Born in Linden, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Edna (Furlong) Darragh. She moved with her husband to Pictou Co., in 1943 and worked at the Pictou Shipyard during WWII. She loved working outdoors, especially enjoying working with her husband and family in the woods and harvesting blueberries. She was an adherent at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church. For the past six years she resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Limerock before moving to Maritime Oddfellows Home. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Wendell (Lynda), New Glasgow; Gary (Doreen), Lime Rock; grand-daughter Glenna Gallant (Ian), Pictou; grandson Barry (Tanya), Lake Egmont; great-grandchildren Dillan and Taylor Black and Gerry and Racheal Gallant.; brother Wylie "Pat" (Sheila) Darragh, Linden and Jim Dixon (Cheryl), Linden; sister Blanche Seaman, Lake Killarney; sister-in-law Iona Darragh, Amherst. She was predeceased by her husband Lorne; grandson Edward; sisters Ethel Dixon and Margaret Rushton; infant sister Elsie Alice; and brothers, Andrew, James and Edward Darragh. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating. Burial will be in Stillman Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Stillman Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice.
