Obituary of Alice Palmer
Mary "Alice" Palmer, age 95, of Westville, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, on January 12, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Evelyn (Osborne) MacPherson.
She lived in Union Centre all of her married life and later moved to the Senior’s Complex, Porters Lane, Westville. For the past 5 years, she was a resident of Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. She was a member of the Westville Heritage Club, the Westville Heritage Club Bowling League, and enjoyed attending card parties.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by daughter Evelyn "Evie" Munro (Albert), Westville; sons, John (Barbara), Thorburn, Andrew (Jane), Port Hawkesbury, Donald (Edna), Westville, James (Theresa), Hazel Glen, and Allister (Elizabeth), Abercrombie; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; sister Christena "Tena" McDonald, Westville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Patrick; sisters, Rebecca "Mollie" Marcott, Margaret MacMillan; and brothers, James, Daniel, and Duncan.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Evo DiPierro officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery, Westville. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Glen Haven Activity Department, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of choice.
