Obituary of Harriet Marshall

Harriet Elizabeth Marshall, 76, of Sylvester, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at her home, with her family by her side. Born in Millsville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lizzie (McCabe) Hawboldt. Harriet attended Trenton High School and later attended Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro where she graduated in 1953. She furthered her education through Saint Francis Xavier and graduated with Masters in Education. She was a well known school teacher for 34 years, beginning her career in Glengarry, Trenton, White Hill, and then in Westville Jr. High teaching her beloved Grade 7’s for more than 27 years. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church, serving on the Board of Managers. Harriet enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, county senior functions, playing crib, and keeping in touch with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her son Bill (Linda), South Carolina; grandchildren, Sandy and Jeremy; and close friend Jim Goodwin. She was predeceased by sisters Doris Spillett, Minnie Peckham and Laura Ross-MacDonald; brothers, Clarence, Charles, Gordon, Eldon , John, Burton and Weldon Hawboldt. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 o’clock at Salem Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1 –1:45 at the church. Donations in her memory may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church, Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
