Mrs. Esther "Verna" Johnson, 82 , North Street, Westville passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Trenton, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Josephine (Mooring) Bugden. She had a great faith, attending both the Salvation Army and St. Paul United Church, where she had taught Sunday School for several years. Mrs. Johnson was a very gentle lady, who was always concerned for others. She took great pride in her sons, especially enjoying her grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson will be missed by her sons Benvie (Jane), Pleasant Valley; Gordon ( Dorrie), MacPherson’s Mills; Robert (Cathy ), Fox Brook; and Sam, Union Centre; daughter-in-law Donna, Westville; grandchildren, Crystal and Tracey; Michael, David, and Jessica; Janeen and Shauna-Rae; Matthew, Nicholas, and Tyler; and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Neil, Toronto; Alton (Muriel), New Glasgow; Gordon (Dorothy), Truro; William (Elaine), Sherbrooke; sisters, Bertha MacNeil (Donnie), Port Hastings; Elizabeth Dale, Ontario; Muriel Myers ( Fred), Winnipeg; Jean Ravenhill (Wilson), Little Harbour; and Anna Hughes, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Harry; son Eugene (forever loved); sister Ada Nickerson; and brothers, Scott, Leslie, and Danny Bugden. Her remains are resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville , with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
