Obituary of Rosalind Shaw

It is with sadness that the family of Rosalind Shaw, Westville, announces her passing in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow on Saturday, April 2, 2011 Rosalind was the daughter of the late Archibald and Martha (Mac Ewan) Hayman. She took great pride in raising her seven children and niece. Rosalind was employed with Thompson and Sutherland Ltd. before joining Sears from where she retired. During her working years she made many close friendships. She was a member of St. Paul United Church where she sang in the choir as well as being a lifetime member of the UCW. Rosalind was a dedicated member of the Murray Temple # 4 Pythian Sisters for 67 years and was a Past District Deputy Grand Chief, PDDGC. She was involved with the Mothers’ Auxiliary of the Dunvegan Girls Pipe band and enjoyed her time involved in the Westville Heritage Society. Rosalind enjoyed dancing, skating, swimming, bowling, sewing, knitting, crocheting and a good game of 45’s. She was a very special mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Left to mourn are her daughters Phyllis (Bob) Jordan, June (Bob) Cameron, Norma (Gord) MacDonald, Lois (Russell) Hendsbee, Aileen (Wil) Sutherland, Donna (David) Avery, son Hugh (Cindy) MacLeod and special niece Darlene Macleod; twenty one grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren; brother Russell (Irene) Hayman and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband Raymond MacLeod, grandson Donald Cameron, brothers David and William Hayman, sisters Mary Hayman and Catherine Clarke and mother and father in law Hugh and Sarah MacLeod. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday at Eagles Funeral Home. The Pythian Sisters will conduct a service on Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm from St. Paul United Church, Westville with Rev Doug Pilsworth officiating. Donations may be made in Rosalind’s memory to a charity of choice.
