Obituary of Harry Dewtie

Harry William Dewtie (Jr), 59, Westville passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born November 23, 1951, he was the only son of the late Harry and Christina (Paterson) Dewtie He is survived by sisters, Anne Geldart (Donald), Debert; Christine Hubley (Randy), Westville; Jeanette Russell (Eric), Westville; a niece and several nephews. Also his special ones, Jody, Melanie and Maya were always in his thoughts. Harry was educated in Westville and the Pictou County Regional Vocational School. He worked for Michelin Tire in Granton and Waterville and retired from Larsen Meat Packers in Berwick. Harry loved the country, his country friends and spent many hours roaming the countryside. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His courage and determination battling his cancer the past year left us all in awe. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Aaron Smith, Dr. Gerry Farrell and staff of the Palliative Care and V.O.N. nurses for all the excellent care of Harry. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 - 10:45 am at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville followed by his funeral service at 11 am in Eagles Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David MacLean officiating. Burial will be in Millbrook Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in Harry’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
