Obituary of Pearl Grant
Pearl Margaret Grant, age 81, Mount Thom, formerly of New Waterford, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with her family by her side. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Mary (Lush) Head. A seamstress by profession, she had worked at Stanfield’s in Truro for over 18 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially the chance to go fishing. Pearl was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and doing ceramics. She was a loving, caring person who was always smiling, and enjoyed telling a good joke. She will be sadly missed by her husband Ralph; step-daughter Margie Grant-Walsh (Vernon), New Glasgow; grandchildren, Anneke, Rachael, Mark, and David vanBommell; step-son in law, John vanBommell, Alma. She is also survived by sisters and brothers, Carrie Thorne, Sydney, Wallace Head (Etta), New Waterford; Nita Taylor (Paul), Indiana; Rebecca Hamlyn (Wilson), Mount Thom; Thomas Head (Rose), New Waterford; Dorothy Goulding (Kitchener), NFLD; Linda Zimmerman, Ont.; George Head (Wendy), Abercrombie; close friends, John and Joan Carroll, Lower Mount Thom; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Len Hill; her second husband Bill Howe; step-daughter Verna vanBommell; sisters, Hilda Gaumont and Annie Davis, and infant sisters Mary, Beatrice, and Letty Pearl. Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville . Her funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Wednesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Captains Neil and Dolores Abbott officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
