Obituary of Frances Ross
Frances E. C Ross. , 83, Halifax, formerly of Westville, N.S., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on May 12, 2011 at Northwood Care Facility in Halifax.
Frances was born in Westville on August 14, 1927 to the late Art and Lorena Favier. The second of four children, Frances was predeceased by her eldest sister Wilma and her husband Osborne Eagles, and her brother-in-law Mel Salsman. She is survived by her sister Lorna (Salsman) and brother Tom Favier and his wife Lillian.
After marrying her late husband Louis Ross in 1950, Frances moved first to Blue Mountain and then to many locals across Canada and Europe while Louis served in the Canadian Army. Frances returned to Westville in 1982 following her husband's death. She was a proud and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35, and served for many years as a member of the Legion Colour Party. Some of her favourite memories were of playing darts and cribbage with her many friends, and was very proud of the trophies and ribbons they won together.
She will be greatly missed by her four children; Howard (Judy), Auckland N.Z.; James, Ottawa; Susan Aylward and Murray, both of Halifax. Frances was the proud grandmother of Avena, Edmonton, and Dwayne Aylward, Ottawa, and Aunt to many nieces and nephews across Canada.
Services will be held on Sunday May 15 at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville, Nova Scotia. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm. With Rev. Norman Marple officiating. Interment will be at the Blue Mountain Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to the Parkinson Society.
