Obituary of Jean Lees

Jean Frances Lees, 72, of Durham, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2011, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Annie (MacKay) Marcipont. Jean was a special needs teacher, working for several years at the Kinsmen Opportunity Centre and later with the Pictou County Day Care. She was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi. Being very close with her family, Jean greatly enjoyed traveling with her sisters, but most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, Richard "Dick"; daughters, Kimberly Watters (Andrew), Durham and Mandy Lees, Alberta; sons, George Michael (Gail), New Glasgow; Troy (Cheryl), Central West River; Jackie (Heather), Durham; chosen son Mike Hasler (Belinda), Thorburn; grandchildren, Jessica and Amy; Sarah-Jean, and Matthew; Alex and Kent; Savannah and Dawson; step-grandchildren, Melanie, Stephanie, and Carl; great grandchildren, Layne, Orin, Sage, and Simon; sisters, Alice MacKay (Doug), Dartmouth, Muriel Pitts (Leander), Durham; brothers, Leonard Marcipont (Joyce), Westville and Willie Marcipont (Evelyn), New Glasgow; mother-in-law Agnes Lees, Glen Haven Manor; and many extended family members. She was predeceased by sister Mary MacLean and brother Hector Marcipont. Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. There will be no funeral service. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice
