Obituary of Mary Marshall
Mary Ruth Marshall, 82, of Westville, N.S. passed away on July 9, 2011 at the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 7 1929, Mary was a daughter of the late Ruby (Robar) and John R Marshall Glengarry. Mary had worked many years at the Nova Scotia Training School in Truro, N.S. until her retirement. She was a loving and caring person who was always helping someone. Mary (known as Aunt Mary to most) loved to knit, garden and bake (she was very well known for her amazing cinnamon rolls and biscuits). She was an avid card and BINGO player as well as a huge Blue Jays fan. Mary was an active member of St Paul United Church in Westville and was the treasurer for the Miriam Unit of the UCW. In the past Mary has volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, at the canteen for Westville Minor Hockey, and recently at the Breakfast Program at Dr. W. A. MacLeod School.
She leaves behind a brother Albert (Florence) Marshall, Westville, Sisters Ria(Lou) MacLeod, Niagara Falls Ont., and Linda (Greg) Pelerine, Beamsville, Ont. Special niece and nephews who were more like her children: Kelly Marshall, Westville, Billy Chisholm, Westville, Roddy (Melanie) Chisholm, Seattle Wash., John R (Helen) Marshall, Truro, and Paddy(Karen) Marshall, Calgary. Other nieces and nephews David(Nancy)Marshall Rocklin; Dianne Dawson, Rocklin; Bill(Linda)MacLeod, Ont; Linda(Brian) Holden , Ont; Brenda(Gord)Wiggins, Ont; Darren(Sherri)Pelerine; Ont. As well as many great nieces and nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her mother, father and brothers Robert and Malcolm.
Visitation for Mary will take place at Eagles Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 till 4 and 7 till 9. Funeral service will take place in St Paul United church Westville Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Douglas Pilsworth Officiating. Interment will take place in Birch Hill Cemetery Middle River. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory can be made to Birch Hill Cemetery Middle River or the Palliative Care Society Aberdeen Hospital. The family would like to say a big thank you to Dr. Farrell, Debbie Williams, Linda O’Brien and the nurses in Palliative care, as well as the doctors and nurses in the ER and on the 4th floor of the Aberdeen Hospital, and the VON Nurses involved in her care.
