Obituary of Marjorie Holliday
Marjorie Ellis Holliday, of Alma, NS, passed away peacefully at Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, NS, on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011. Born in Bass River, NS, she was the daughter of Lindsay and Zola (Taylor) MacLellan. She was a graduate of the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1942. After raising her family, she was on the staff of Sutherland-Harris Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1981. An active member of her community, she was a member of Green Hill-Alma United Church, and a former member of the Women’s Institute, the Ladies Auxiliary to the Alma Fire Department and the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing Alumni. She was proud to be co-designer with Nelle Miller of the Aberdeen Hospital class ring. She was blessed with many friends of all ages who appreciated her grace, strength and sense of humour. She is survived by her children, Shirley (Jim) MacLeod and Lindsay (Sharon) Holliday; four grandchildren, Drew MacLeod (Kizzy Kaye), Lesley (Keith) Dickson, both of Saint John, NB, Mark (Allison) Holliday, New Glasgow, NS and Ryan, Edmonton, AB; sister, Beatrice Letcher, Truro, and niece, Lorna Letcher, Valley, NS. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Stephen Holliday (Nov 2010), daughter-in-law, Laurel, and brother-in-law, Wallace Letcher. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9, Monday, July 25th with the memorial service at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 26th, both from Eagles’ Funeral Home, Westville, NS. Internment will follow at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Sylvester, NS.
