Marie Duprey

Obituary of Marie Duprey

On September 2, 2011, at age 67 years, after a courageous battle, with family around her, Isabel "Marie" Duprey, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus. Marie was an avid hunter, and also greatly enjoyed fishing. She loved to drive the back roads, looking for deer, checking a snare line she had set, or looking for that perfect fishing hole. A familiar face on the highways of Nova Scotia, Marie could be seen with flag in hand at many road construction sites. She was much beloved by her co-workers. Loyal loving to her family and friends, generous to everyone and any one, including the odd "Hobo" down on their luck. One could always get a hot meal or a dry pair of socks at Marie’s place. Although Marie was not schooled in a formal setting, she was a master of crossword puzzles, no matter how challenging. The baby of a large family of 10, Marie, a devote Catholic, leaves behind her husband of 47 years Aubrey; three daughters, Cathy Jack (John), Pictou; Cecilia MacNeil (Kevin), South Africa; Audrey Hayden (Gary), Little Harbour; grandchildren, Candace and Odessa Jack, Ryan and Jessica MacNeil; Stephen and Felicia DeBruyn; brothers, Roddy Flavin (Betty), New Glasgow; Francis Flavin (Lottie), Mississauga, Ont.; sisters Irene MacDonald (Kenneth), Barrie, Ont.; Mildred Fitzgerald (Gerald), Guysborough. She was predeceased, by her parents, Nicholas and Mabel (Hudson) Flavin; by brothers, Gerald, Charles, and Lorne Flavin; sisters Jean Best and Mary Smith. Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Donald Boudreau officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital. "Rest Easy Dear One For You Have Earned Your Heavenly Slumber".
