Obituary of Anne MacNeill

Anne Bertha MacNeill, 91, Westville passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011, in Highcrest Home, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late John and Lola (Burns) Gillis. Anne was a member of the Church of The Holy Name, Westville and a member of the C.W.L. for over 50 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch# 35, Westville; a former member of the Westville Heritage Group and a founding member of Parents Without Partners. She will be remembered for her gentleness, her warm smile and twinkle in her eye. A loving mother, grandmother and friend, she will be missed by her daughters, Marsha Wong (William), Antigonish; Marilyn MacNeill, Kentville; Carla Carlos (Mike), New Glasgow; son Jim (Mona), New Minas; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Marshall; son Blaine; grandson Derrick Wong; and brothers, John, Doug, and Bernie Gillis. Visitations will be held Monday, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from The Church of The Holy Name, Westville with Father Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Name Cemetery. Family flowers only.
