Obituary of Wayne Smith

Wayne Brian Smith, age 73, of Salt Springs, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in Campbellton, NB, he was a son of the late Neil and Lillian (Thompson) Smith. Wayne served with the Canadian Army from 1959-1968 and was an employee of Michelin for 18 years until retirement. He is survived by his wife Blanche (DeCoste); daughters, Donna Smith (Susan), Westville; Paula MacDonald, Stellarton; Nancy MacKenzie (Darrell), Westville; Dawn Forgeron (Alex), West Arichat; Michelle Benoit (Warren), Petit de Grat; grandchildren, Mark, Nicole, Jonathan, Travis, Jacob, Chris, Kelsey, Sara, Krista, Brandon, James, Karly, and Zachary; great grandchild Olivia; sisters, Carol Kelly (Donald), Westville, Phyllis Smith (Gary Smeltzer), Union Centre; Sandra Ross (Neil), West River Station; brothers, Jim (Elizabeth), West River Station; Neil (Yolanda), Paulamond, NS; Roland (Pauline), Brampton, Ont; and sister-in-law Barbara George, Arichat. He was predeceased by his mother in law Emillia DeCoste; brothers-in-law Harold George and Napoleon "Nappie" DeCoste Cremation has taken place. Visitations will be held on Friday from 7-9 p.m. only, at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 o’clock at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Father Gerald Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
