Obituary of Thomas MacKay
Thomas Norman MacKay, 86 years, Coalburn, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Mill Brook, he was a son of the late Ira and Georgena (Watters) MacKay.
As a young boy, Tom worked in his father’s logging company. He later became a well known meat cutter for over 44 years, operating his business, MacKay’s Meats with his son in New Glasgow and later in Coalburn. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Gairloch and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 34, New Glasgow. Tom was a resident of Glen Haven Manor for the past two years.
He will be dearly missed by his son Wayne, Rocklin who loved his father very much. He is also survived by a step daughter, Michelle Sartoris, Thorburn, a brother, George (Bunny), New Glasgow and sister in law, Ada MacKay, New Glasgow.
He was predeceased by sisters Donalda Hogg and Eileen MacKenzie and brother Harold MacKay.
Visitations were held from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Monday from Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Tuesday Oct. 18 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Bonny Crockett officiating. Burial was in St. Andrews Cemetery, Gairloch
