Obituary of Isabel Wright
Mary "Isabel" Wright, 95, Westville, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, on Saturday, December 3, 2011 with all her family by her side as she would have wanted.
Isabel was born in New Glasgow on February 26, 1916. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Watters) Fraser, Greenhill.
Isabel worked for 17 years at Bruce Fraser’s Restaurant, Westville. She was a lifetime member of Pythian Sisters, Murray Temple #4 for 60 years. In 1995 she received a plaque for Outstanding Citizen of the Year for Westville. She was a member of the Common Cause Card Club for 48 years until they decided to come to a close. She was a faithful member of St. Paul United Church in Westville. She was a member of Westville Heritage Group and also belonged to the Heritage Bowlers until she was 90 years old. She joined the Lady Princess May Lodge #53 Westville, Loyal True Blue Association in 1947 and remained an active and loyal member. She was a Past Worshipful Mistress of Westville, later becoming an Honorary Member of both the Provincial Grand Lodge of N.S. and Supreme Grand Lodge of Canada. Surviving are daughter Margaret Rushton, Westville; sons Raymond (Shirley), Truro and Ronald, at home; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her wonderful sisters Elizabeth MacLaughlin, Laurren Stoffmehl; sister-in-law Dorothy Fraser; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Stephen Wright; infant son John; grand daughter Sheri-Lynn Knoblauch; her sisters Ruth Fraser, Doris Logan; and her two brothers Earl and Cecil Fraser.
Mom was an inspiration to all her family, we were blessed to have such a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, and sister in the family.
Visitations were held from at Eagles Funeral, Westville. Her funeral service was held at 2 o’clock Tuesday Dec. 5 from St. Paul United Church, Westville with Rev. Doug Pilsworth officiating. Burial was in St. Phillip’s Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Palliative Care, Aberdeen Hospital or St. Paul’s United Church Fund.
