Obituary of Catherine Rae

Catherine Olivia Rae, 74, Salt Springs, Pictou County passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with her family by her side. Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Florence "Flossie"(Gammon) Watters. Catherine was Post Master of the Salt Springs Post Office for 30 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the West River Fire Department and a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Salt Springs. A loving mother and grandmother, Catherine will be sadly missed by her children: Barry, Salt Springs; Norma (Jamie Swallow), Six Mile Brook and Randy (Shelley), Union Centre; four grand children, Barry Swallow (Goldie), Anna Swallow, Andrew Hilchey and Austen Hilchey and great-grandchildren Emily and Clare. She is also survived by sisters, Wilda Rorison (Erick Otterson), Salt Springs; Deana Parker, Salt Springs; brothers, Scott, Westville; Rae (Sandra), Salt Springs; Tom, Green Hill; sisters-in-law, Joan Watters, and Margaret Rushton; brothers-in-law, Vince Fortune and Russell Rae and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Clarence; a sister Sandra Fortune; and brother, Clarence Watters. Visitations were held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral services was held 2 o’clock Saturday December 31, 2011 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville. Burial was in Gladstone Cemetery, Four Mile Brook. Family flowers only.
