Obituary of Gary MacDonald

Gary Wayne MacDonald, age 60 , Victoria Avenue, New Glasgow, formerly of Water Street, Westville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in the Q.E.II Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in New Glasgow, Gary was a son of the late Hugh and Beatrice (Cyr) MacDonald. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Name, Westville. Gary was an employee of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation for the past 30 years. He enjoyed his friendships and conversations with his fellow employees and friends at Tim Hortons. He enjoyed travelling with his family on vacation. Gary held a special place in the hearts of all his family members and was always willing to lend a helping hand . Gary will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters, John (Diana), Westville; Nancy (Les)Strickland, Abercrombie; Hugh, New Glasgow; and Margaret "Maggie" (Buzz MacCallum), New Glasgow. He was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews, Chris and Blair MacDonald, Kim MacKinnon, Lesley Russell, Jeff Strickland, Craig and Lindsay MacDonald, and Matthew MacDonald, as well as 8 great nieces and nephews. He was also survived by uncle, Harry Cyr, Stellarton and several cousins. Visitations will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or a charity of one’s choice
