Obituary of Ross Sewell

Ross Welton Sewell, age 70, View Street, New Glasgow, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his family by his side. Born in New Glasgow, Ross was a son of the late Joseph and Winifred (Gunning) Sewell. Ross worked for 28 years as a Social Worker with the Dept. of Community Services. In retirement, he remained dedicated to serve his community by being a founding member of the Pictou County Prostate Cancer Support Group. He developed a love for antiques and was an avid gardener. Ross traveled regularly to Vancouver with his wife to visit their daughters. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn (Sutherland); daughters, Marla and Kara, both of Vancouver; sister, Judy McClary (Stan), Halifax; brothers, Russell (Sandra), Trenton, Jack (Nettie), Halifax; sister- in- law Diane Sewell, Westville Road; and nine nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Gerald. Visitations were at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Monday from Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton with Rev. Archdeacon Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville. Donations in his memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
