Obituary of Gerard DeBruyn

Gerard DeBruyn, 85, of Scotsburn, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in the Maritime Odd Fellows Home with his wife of 61 years by his side. Born in Utrecht, Netherlands, Gerry and his new bride moved to New York, U.S., to help with the family Garden Centre business. After 22 years in the Garden Centre business Gerry retired at the young age of 45. Gerry moved his family to Heathbell, Scotsburn and took up farming as a hobby. Gerry was born on December 17, 1926 to the late Gerard and Helen DeBruyn. Gerry is survived by his wife Alberta, Durham; and three children, Ronnie (Sherry), South Carolina; Helen, Scotsburn; and Dick (Glenda), Durham. Opa will be dearly missed by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. There will be no funeral service by his request. Cremation took place. Donations may be made to the Maritime Odd Fellows Home in Gerry’s Memory.
