Obituary of Jean Brown

The death of Jean Stewart (Simpson) Brown of Westville occurred at home on the 17th day of July, 2012 in her 70th year. Born in New Glasgow, raised in Black Point, she was the only child of the late Cecil & Matilda (Reid) Simpson. She and her husband Jack lived in Truro, New Glasgow, Hampton, Fredericton, Moncton and Halifax, before retiring to Westville. Jean graduated from Success Business College and went to work in Truro where she met and married Jack. She worked in Truro and New Glasgow at an automobile dealership, two flower shops, two finance companies and 7up Sussex before moving to New Brunswick for 20 years. While in NB she raised two children, took courses at UNB & The Modern Language Institute. She worked at Maritime Beverages for many years, sold real estate, and did numerous surveys and product demos. In Halifax she owned and operated a franchise. Jean volunteered for many organizations and received her certificate for making 50+ blood donations. Jean had a strong work ethic, believed in the golden rule, the virtue of patience, the obligation of duty and above all, having a sense of humor. Jean is survived by her devoted husband Jack, son Darren and daughter-in-law Daphnee Michaud, daughter Darci and chosen grandson Jacob T. Fox, special cousin Donna Ranahan, sister-in-law Ann Brown, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law Ernest and Elizabeth Brown and brother-in-law Charles Brown. Visitation will be at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville on Friday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9. Private burial will be at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital or the VON. Family flowers only.
